The Khelo India Rural and Indigenous National Games 2023 are being organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports at Kalinga Institute of Social Science, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from June 9 to 12.

Federation of Mallayuddha India President Shri B K Bharat told the media that 'Malayaddha' is a very important moment for the sportspersons as the Tribal Sports Mahotsav (Khelo India Rural and Indigenous National Games) are being organised and for the first time 'Mallyuddha' has been included as a demonstration sport along with other tribal and Indigenous sports, and the President of the Federation and International Director nominated by the Federation, Mr. Neeraj Kumar Mehra, is participating.

Currently standing on the verge of extinction, this art has been re-promoted and disseminated as a sport by the International Federation of Mallyuddha (IFM).The International Federation of Mallyuddha was established in 2019 to revive the ancient Indian martial art, and Mallyuddha has been approved by the World Martial Arts Union, South Korea, a UNESCO-certified organisation for traditional martial arts. Along with this, Mallyuddha was also included in the Indian Traditional Sports and Games Festival and the National Martial Arts Games in India.
